Dream big – Win a Bosch kitchen makeover with the Finish Ultimate Challenge

True story – I went out one afternoon to do some errands and I innocently asked my husband to fill our dishwasher. Simple enough, right? You bet, and it truly would have been, except we were out of dishwasher soap and he decided to improvise.

After filling the dishwasher with some lovely lavender scented dish soap, he turned his back for 10 minutes and came back to an uncontrollable flow of suds coursing their way out of the dishwasher and down onto the floor. He was confused, I was hysterical with laughter, and it ended up being the end of the line for our dishwasher and part of our hardwood floor.

After a month of repair, we finally had a new dishwasher. So I did what any wife in the same situation would do – I presented him with a box of Finish Quantum Dishwashing Detergent and gave him a PK on how tablets are good = dish soap is bad.

We’ve had blissfully clean dishes ever since.

Having my kitchen in turmoil is one of my worst nightmares, mostly because my kitchen is not just the center of my house and the first stop for my kids and I after a busy day out and about, it’s also the place I choose to work. Part of the reason is because it’s just easy to hit the repeat button on the Keurig machine if I’m within reaching distance, and part of it is because it’s the brightest, coziest room in the house.

My current kitchen is best described, with a heavy sigh, as functional. I have a huge chalkboard wall, a long kitchen table with benches on either side, and a slightly older fridge and stove to go along with my sparkling new dishwasher. The cabinets are light blonde, or as I like to call them, early 1990’s revival, and the countertop needs a desperate face lift.

Given that I work, eat, and socialize with my family in my kitchen, I tend to fantasize about having a ‘dream kitchen’ quite a bit. I’d change the cabinets to white with a farmhouse finish, or maybe even trendy pewter. The countertops would be wood slab, and the appliances a shiny silver. The overall look would resemble my Grandma’s farmhouse, with vintage knobs, an apron sink, and my chandelier sparkling over my table.

And my dream fridge? It would have enough space to hold all four of the lunches I make every night and not spill milk on me when I open the door.

Plus, while I’m at it, I’d put a nice built-in desk for me in the corner to hide my laptop from the kids when they want to play Minecraft and have a place for my work odds and ends.
