Vintage Disneyland video – 1978

Here’s a Saturday night blast from the past – Vintage Disneyland video from 1978. Zip through the 3o seconds or so and you’ll seeVintage Disneyland video - 1978 the Disneyland Hotel, the old monorail, the parking lot where California Adventure used to be. The tram ride felt like it took forever to get there, even though it looks like it might have been about 5 minutes.

You’ll even see Dumbo, Casey Jr., and Skull Rock, which used to be on Pirate’s Island. Plus, you get a good shot of the Pirate Ship restaurant that I do believe I ate in way back when, although I don’t remember the experience.

It’s amazing to see how much things seem to stay the same at Disneyland, and how much they’ve changed.

And yes, that’s me in the cute navy blue/red dress and that’s my Dad in the blue pant suit.  Clearly, the 70’s were full of dubious fashion (and health) choices.

  1. OMG, that is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen and how I wish I had a video of my family at Disneyland (either ’77 or ’78 – we’re close in age). I love your Dad’s pantsuit and him lighting up – brings back memories of those days. You do a great job on your blog, really like your writing style.

    • Thank you! I love that video too. I’ve got another one with the Skyway and a few other things this one doesn’t have. I’ll have to upload it.

I always look at this video and want to go back in time. I love it there now, but the crowds are always insane. It looked a lot more peaceful back then.
